What are the different types of Inclusive Practices reports?
The Inclusive Practices reports explore different dimensions of school practice (called themes and sub-concepts) that research suggests work together to create an inclusive school.
There are two types of report:
- School at a Glance
- Items at a Glance
School at a Glance reports
The circular School at a Glance report represents each school as a system with different dimensions. The reports are designed to assist you to start to identify possible strengths, as well as next steps to include in an action plan.
The School at a Glance report is based on data from the School Review Profile. Each of the 13 coloured segments in the report represents the average score of all the items (survey questions) in each sub-concept.
Each main theme is represented by a different coloured sector. Themes are broken down into sub-concepts. If most of the sector is coloured in, this shows that there is a high level of agreement that this dimension of practice is in place at your school. If a sector is only coloured near the centre of the circle this shows there is a lower level of agreement that this dimension is in place.
The two School at a Glance reports are different ways to consider the same data. One shows school data grouped according to the Inclusion themes (Presence, Participation, Learning). The other shows school data grouped by School Systems themes (Leadership, Policies and practices, School culture). The two reports contain the same sub-concepts. In this sense they are comparable.
We suggest that you undertake further analysis of the more detailed reports (Items at a Glance) before firm conclusions are made about practices to include in an action plan.
Items at a Glance report
The Inclusive Practices Items at a Glance reports can be generated from the:
- Staff Survey
- Community Survey
- Student Survey
The Items at a Glance reports are designed to provide you with the ability to consider the perspectives of different groups. These reports show how each group (Staff, Community, Students) responded to each survey item. The items are grouped according to the themes of Presence, Participation, and Learning. A dividing line down the middle of the report is used to help identify the overall level of agreement or disagreement with each survey item.
The Items at a Glance reports are designed to assist you to identify particular aspects of practice that are strengths at your school as well as practices you might want to build through focusing on them in an action plan.
To help keep students’, community members’ and staff’s results confidential, the reports only become available after at least 5 people have completed the surveys.
